Okta's after-hours pop leads the tape today, but the broader mood is defensive. Money keeps rotating out of the mega-cap growth trade and into gold, Treasurys, and, in one prominent case, Nvidia itself, as star investors trim AMD to fund more Nvidia. The major indices are still leaning into rates optimism while quietly buying insurance against it.

Technology carries this portfolio's weight and its risk in the same breath. Nvidia's Hugging Face move reads less like a shopping spree than a defensive flank against the AI arms race. Adobe swapped chief executives in the middle of the story. Apple's own leadership is warning of a reckoning ahead, an odd chorus for a sector this portfolio is concentrated in. Consumer cyclical is mixed: Amazon is drawing regulatory attention over its ad practices, Lululemon cut its outlook for a second time, and not every consumer name is having the same year.

The advisors have flagged Nvidia specifically, discussing trimming the largest position down over several weeks and using the proceeds to open a new stake in Berkshire Hathaway, framed as ballast rather than growth. They have also discussed adding healthcare and international exposure in the weeks ahead, and, less happily, writing strict rules for the portfolio's smaller speculative names before the next double or disappointment arrives. Intel remains a name they say needs a decision, not more patience.
